iSlsk v0.3.1 - P2P client for the iPhone

If you’re looking for another way to download music directly to your phone aside from iTunes (especially if you’re connected to the Internet via EDGE), then here’s one solution that you may be looking for. Check out errrick’s iSlsk (pronounced as “soulseek”), a music peer-to-peer client for iPhone users.

And like many P2P clients, here’s how iSlsk works: just search for the song that you want to download it, then a list of the search results will appear. Click on any of the searches, then like any other good P2P clients, iSlsk will automatically download the song for you. The application is barebones as of the moment - a tag editor isn’t included in the current release but will be in a future version - but it does the job pretty well.

Though since the iPhone is a mobile device, you can expect to have any of your peers to suddenly go offline shortly after you connect with them. What you can do to avoid wasting your time in waiting for a download to finish, only to have it cut off abruptly is to cue up several or all of the results for that single song that you want to download. That way, even if one of them goes offline, there are still alternate peers online for you to download from.
