Pianist v2.0 - improved version of iAno, includes recorder feature
March 29, 2008Some of you may remember the iAno homebrew application which was a rather decent virtual piano simulation at the time of its release. However, developer MooTheCow has stepped up the pace and repackaged this neat app into something entirely new. Now called Pianist v2.0, it comes with host of added features and improvements which make it vastly superior to its predecessor.
There’s been a major improvement in the sound quality Pianist produces when compared to its earlier incarnation. Aside from the accurate scale of the different octaves on the interface, it even sports the same hollowed out sounds of a real piano.
The developer also includes a feature which records your latest masterpiece onto your phone’s memory. MooTheCow is currently working on creating an actual save and load function which will record your music as midi files. In addition, the next version of Pianist will feature further improved sound quality.
Here are the detailed steps on how to install Pianist into your iPhone:
- First you need to jailbreak your iPhone to allow third-party applications to be installed.
- Add the “ModMyiFone.com” repository to your Installer.
- Click on the Installer Icon.
- Click on the “Sources” icon at the bottom.
- Click “Edit”.
- Click “Add”.
- Enter: “http://modmyifone.com/installer.xml”.
- Click “OK”.
- Pianist will appear under the “Toys” section of installer.
All in all, Pianist definitely looks like one enjoyable piano sim which pushes the limit of the platform. Don’t take our word for it, though. You can watch this nifty app in action through the embedded video we’ve provided below.
